CALL FOR PROPOSALS TO ORGANIZE ENVIRONMENT WORKSHOPS

In the framework of the preference field of environment, the International University of Andalusia (UNIA) will continue in 2012 the programme dedicated to the organization of workshops focused on current topics of environmental research.

The aim of these workshops is to promote and improve both international cooperation and scientific exchange in the area of environment. Particularly, these workshops pretend to foster and facilitate scientific interaction of Andalusian and Iberoamerican researchers with the whole international scientific community.

These workshops will be held in Baeza (Andalusia, Spain) at the "Sede Antonio Machado" for three days approximately and the working language will be English.

Highly experienced, prestigious researchers in the corresponding field can submit their proposals to the UNIA in order to organize these workshops. Considering this criterion of specialization, participants can have any academic degree or professional category. In addition to the invited speakers, participants can also contribute scientifically to the workshop and will be encouraged to present a poster to communicate their results. The organizers will select some of the submitted poster abstracts so that their authors can also present their results orally.

Organizers can be three as maximum. In case that some organizer has some connection with an andalusian scientific institution, this circumstance will be evaluated positively in the general analysis of each proposal. Other positive criterion to be considered is the possiblity of sponsorship by some public or private institution linked to the workshop topic.

Invited speakers, 17 in all, must be top-level, highly experienced investigators in the corresponding field. The workshops will have a total attendance of 50 people, including invited speakers. Diversity in the geographical origin of speakers and participants is desired. The inclusion of some iberoamerican scientist(s) in the list of speakers of the workshops will be evaluated positively.

The UNIA will cover all travel, accommodation and maintenance costs of the invited speakers. Invited speakers and participants will be accommodated in a residence of the International University of Andalusia, located at the venue of the workshop.

Another positive circumstance will be a serious commitment by organizers or invited speakers in order to write a meeting review or report (after the workshop) and publish it in a good scientific journal, with a satisfactory Science Citation Index.

Proposals must include: 

 -    Workshop title

-    Curriculum vitae of the organizers

-    Description of the workshop subject (3 pages)

-    Justification of its interest (2 pages)

-    Justified list of invited speakers

-    Draft or preliminary programme of the workshop, indicating the scientific sessions and relating the invited speakers with the corresponding titles or topics of their talks

-    Sponsor institutions (if any)
