Environmental Workshop: General Information
Información General

General information

The Environment is a prime concern at the Universidad Internacional de Andalucía (UNIA). For 2005, the University has established a programme of international conferences on the environment. The purpose of the conferences is to promote and improve international cooperation and scientific exchanges on the Environment, thus promoting and facilitating scientific interaction between Andalusian and Latin American researchers and the international scientific community.

The conferences will be held over a three day period at UNIA's head office, Sede Antonio Machado, in Baeza (Andalusia, Spain) and the working language will be in English. Sede Antonio Machado is in Plaza Santa Cruz, in the historic city centre, near the Cathedral. The head office has all the facilities required to host this series of conferences: computer room, library, classrooms, and meeting rooms. It also has a hall of residence where the guest speakers and those attending the conferences will be accommodated. Thus, social interaction and informal discussions will be facilitated.

Sede Antonio Machado offers the added advantage of being in the World Heritage city of Baeza (pop.:17,000).

The guest speakers, 17 in all, are highly prestigious researchers with broad experience in the field concerned.

Attendance is restricted to 33-35 people, to complete a group of around 50, including the guest speakers. A certain number of places will be reserved for doctoral students and young PhDs. Participants are encouraged to exhibit a poster to communicate their research results. The organizers will select some of the submitted poster abstracts, so that their authors can present, in additition to the poster, a short talk (15-20 min.).

 Scholarships

The University offers some full scholarships (registration, accommodation and meals) to young candidates (under 35). To apply for a scholarship, please fill in the appropriate space on the Application Form.

Applicants who receive a full scholarship will be notified after the admission deadline. You will be required to send a letter or a photocopy of a document certifying your professional and financial status to the Universidad Internacional de Andalucía (UNIA).

 Accommodation

All those attending the conferences will be accommodated in the residence hall at Sede Antonio Machado, where the conference will be held .
